Best Race In Kingdoms Of Amalur

Avatar image for brocknrolla

I've been playing Reckoning for 14ish hours and I feel like I'thousand sort of floating as a graphic symbol. I'thou curious to know what you lot recall is the most fun or rewarding mode of play. I've been playing with daggers and some magic, but it just doesn't feel like a particularly appealing combination.

What kind of form building are you lot doing? What sort of gear do y'all apply? What seems similar the best way to play?

Avatar image for superwristbands

Pure might. I find hammers to be the most fun but the other weapons are skillful besides. The gainsay isn't very deep so I try to spice it up by using ii melee weapons and swapping between them in combat. I can usually get a nice philharmonic going merely the diversity of combos isn't all that dandy.

 Edit: I am not maxim this is the best fashion, it's just the manner I like it.

Avatar image for redravn

I accept been using might and magic down an even separate. My character uses might armor and mage gloves most of the time. I call up its pretty fun. I play mostly melee with a greatsword and use ice barrage and the lightning spell to combo with and do damage. There is a nice philharmonic with the lighting that in its 2d tier it gets a chance to stun. At that place is a might talent that gives you lot actress damage to stunned targets so thats a good synergy. I mainly use a greatsword and staff/chakrams.

Really you can do fine with any build but make sure your points are evenly distributed so you go the fate cards at a lowest level equally possible.

I'grand playing as full finesse, just thinking about going finesse/sorcery afterwards just because "Poison Blink" sounds then damn awesome.

 I've been using daggers and faeblades with armor boosting my crits or whatsoever I have that's the coolest at the fourth dimension. Over at my buddy's place though, him and his roommates all seem to exist going might/sorcery, and seeing later builds of that, it does look pretty badass, only and then again I'k sure all later builds look pretty badass. The absurd matter is there actually is no wrong mode to play the game. But go on at information technology, and somewhen yous'll observe a skill path that y'all'll want to invest more in depending on your play style. If you're unsure, just go to a fateweaver and respec. It'southward cheap (price goes up later on each fourth dimension though) and it gives y'all a chance to play around with possible builds.

 Likewise if it seems kinda boring, attempt upping the difficulty a scrap. I've been playing on hard the whole time, and it'southward is completely playable. Normal just turned into a snooze-fest as everything was super easy to accept care of.

Thank you for the communication on the difficulty. I'm going to endeavour that.

Early magic hasn't been peculiarly satisfying for me. How loftier of a level were you earlier you felt like y'all were getting access to skillful spell abilities?

@BrockNRolla:

I'yard full Finesse. Daggers or Faeblades with Bow equally Secondary. Enjoying the crap out of information technology. The ultimate Finesse agile skill 'Gambit' is a smash. Spreading out a 20+ mines minefield by the push of a button is a total nail.

Protip: DO Not CRAFT GEAR!

It makes scavening and looting so much more rewarding and fun. Every xanthous, imperial and bluish piece of boodle volition excite you. It could be that upgrade you clamor for. Crafting merely spoils the lootfest aspect of it to some degree (and crafted gear looks boring in comparison to unique epics), specially if yous outlevel the content (which you likely will, since in that location'southward so much content - I'll be 30 before I'm done with the second questing zone)

I'grand kind of doing this, merely considering zip is dropping that I can employ, I'm actually starting to consider investing in crafting skill because I'k so over levelled compared to my gear, haven't had a decent set of daggers drop in over 10 levels at present.

Boodle drops seem to be dependent on where you're at. Lvl-appropriate boodle relative to the content y'all're playing, rather than lvl-appropriate for your actual character-lvl. Equally far as I can tell, having not dabbled in gear crafting yet in the total game, you'll get way besides powerful gear mode also speedily and all the beautiful unique epics go to waste, respectively 'go salvaged'. The game's somewhat also easy without minmaxing, and that's playing on 'hard'. I do get upgrades quite frequently though. Every chest, every swoop spot, every enemy might yield that next sweet slice of gear.

I much prefer that over crafting some banal looking (I suppose?), but totally overpowered equipment.

Avatar image for adamsons

Full sorcery - your summon steals health every time it hits and its philharmonic is 7 hits long. You tin marking vii enemies with marking of flame. Else if that fails, just asplode everything with falling star.

 Id probably get crafting eventually though, unless you are really lucky with drops. Except for the placed sets in the role respective factions, I didn't see a complete magic set one time (in fact I never got more than ii pieces of one set) and I used the same staff for about 20 levels, more of a stat stick though.

Avatar image for redravn

@BrockNRolla:

I suppose magic gets good one time you get either mark of flame or ice barrage to exercise straight impairment. Also, a skillful pair of chakrams is very useful. If yous become might/magic and so the heal spell can be super useful. I would definately recommend hard difficulty considering on normal mode yous tin just walk up and smack everything without ever blocking or using combos. I started on difficult mode and the game is really getting fifty-fifty easier equally I get improve geared and have more abilities.

Avatar image for benspyda

I started might/magic combo but realized I was far more powerful sticking to might. I only utilize greatswords/hammers and relentless assail to overcome the slower initial swing. I'm enjoying information technology and then far.

Avatar image for bigdaddytool

Full sorcery hither. The chakrams are my favorite weapon in the game, and all of the elemental spells are pretty fun to play with.

Avatar image for seppli

So I just respecced pure Might, coming from pure Finesse. Relentless Assault turns combat into a joke. Just plow information technology on. Debuff the lot with that Warcry. Swing your Greatsword around in whatever style yous delight. Thanks to Relentless Assault there's no such thing as proper execution. Everybody who plays a Might build and uses Relentless Attack does indeed suffer from irksome combat. I'll exist switching to pure Sorcery in a session or two, but I doubtable Finesse truely is the way gainsay is all-time, since it has neither Unrelenting Assault or a BFG Onehitkill Ulitmate active skill like the Sorc has.

And Gambit pretty much trumps anything all in the fun and style department. Easily downwardly.

I am getting close to finishing Reckoning, only the last few zones to become (it's been tiresome, doing every sidequest). And am actually thinking of doing a second playthrough.
But with a few twists:

  • on difficult obviously
  • as pure finesse as this seem to exist the most active and enervating class
  • no blacksmithing, no sagecrafting (which is even more than OP), no abracadabra
  • no hunting downwardly sagestones
  • the big ane: Only going to do the main questline and faction quests. No sidequests flow. A because i desire to see how fast it would take, but mainlining the game B because it volition limit XP in a huge way making the game even harder C i want to see just how will the game rubberband me, equally i suspect it will not let me to autumn behind the lvl curve due to much greater XP rewards when killing tougher enemies
Basically going to beeline it, doing the best content as fast equally possible, for better experience and more of a challange.

@Seppli:
Towards the later parts of the game I am really not fifty-fifty bothering with Relentless Assault in well-nigh battles. After soooo much combat you start to just know all the monster ranges/speeds (also partly since at that place are non that many types) and your own moveset.
It also appears I have been gravely mistaken in my dislike for static dmg skills when compared to weapon dmg output. But in a opposite way. Considering weapons terminate scaling halfway through the game. One time you get the acme tier materials yous basically plateu, a greatsword tops at about 250 paperdoll a hammer at 300. And fifty-fifty tho I practise around 1k on a stadard swing (ocasionaly getting into the 2k range a crit when buffed past enemy kills) the top tier magic spells can practice even more and mana is a non upshot.
By the way Bolgan strikes actually ignore Relentless Set on and volition stagger you lot even through it. It's wierd.

Avatar image for seppli

@Tennmuerti:

Sounds similar a dandy program for a 2d playthrough. Might practise so too with a pure allrounder character. If I manage to get it done earlier SSX hits that is.

Avatar image for flaboere

I'm playing might/sorc now, think i have 19 in both, and i'chiliad just regular swinging abroad, and have mana shield on. I use the lightning spell now and then, mostly to stagger. But mostly information technology's but swinging away. But i'm thinking maybe i should get total sorc instead. How are mana-issues?

Avatar image for musubi

Jack of all trades. Seriously. In most RPG games I really relish making specialized builds but reckoning thrives when your doing everything. The ja m of all trades destinies give yous +1 to all skills and the final one does +ii to all skills. Also reduces equip requirements. Its really THE way to play if you lot ask me at least.

Avatar image for brocknrolla

Thanks for all the input guys! This is giving me a lot of new ideas for how to approach the game.

Avatar image for batmanreturned

Finesse, equally Jeff mentioned in the most recent Bombcast enemies just cannot keep up with you, even low level you are most unstoppable.

Simply doesn't that brand the game not fun?

Avatar image for batmanreturned

@BrockNRolla: In a manner I suppose just finesse is besides a lot more involved than the other classes. Y'all've got to be on your feet dodging and mixing up moves more than than might or sorcery. And there are enemies who are not as easily phased past your attacks.

Avatar image for cosmicqueso

Also jack of all trades, mostly chakram with some stealth/dagger stuff thrown in. Sticking more often than not to the main quest, considering the side quests diameter the heck outta me. May become back and do some factions, just since I really don't similar MMO's I'm trying to stay abroad from those parts that remind me most of them.

I've been playing this off and on and go on getting really bored or losing interest. I'm only level half-dozen but I feel like I've been playing for 20 hours because of all the running around you have to do...

  My biggest problem is "should I exist salvaging or selling everything?" If someone tin answer that I can probably continue playing instead of waffling between not knowing what to practice. I am then indecisive and it sucks. I need to determine if I should be selling everything and buying from vendors, or salvaging everything - early game the loot doesn't match what I can buy compared to what I can arts and crafts, delight whatsoever assistance?

Information technology would be boring if y'all were only upwards against ane enemy at a time, but that is almost never the case, against a grouping you accept to exist switching between targets fairly frequently to continue them all off of you. I suspect this is the same no matter what spec you are though.

Depends on whether or not you lot want to craft. I sell most everything. Some people accept been suggesting that crafting makes the game a bit likewise easy, and then peradventure it depends on whether you're looking for more of a challenge or not. I take ridiculous amounts of money at all times.

Crafting is a kind of fun interruption in the hack n slash action, but not necessary. And I've yet to buy something from a vendor, the drops by and large give me everything I'd need or want. And so, if you merely want to get to the chief questline (which is what I'm doing) boodle up, option and choose gear yous want, sell the rest and don't worry about crafting or gems or potions. They're totally unnecessary to get through the game.

Avatar image for supermarius

@steveurkel: i would recommend deciding on a build and so selling the items y'all don't plan on using. Also, it seems similar vendors keep what you sell them for a really long time so you tin can rebuy things if you experience like you made a fault.

Avatar image for steveurkel

Thanks for the communication. This is annoying because I am trying to do alchemy and I can only add ane embereyes and one black cohosh and I can't choose a second one even though I am alchemy four and have three slots I can arts and crafts potions with. I need ii black cohosh and ane embereyes and when I put either of them into the box information technology wont let me choose a 3rd one (unless it is a unlike reagent) - what is the problem hither?

Avatar image for fox01313

Generally rogue/thief for me every bit far every bit the gear but putting the ability points in all 3 to get the one destiny that gives +1 to all skills, I tend to only salvage the gear that might take useful things on it & crafting some. And so far it's been fun for a single player mmo blazon of game though I feel that in that location'due south many times when the combat feels rather cheap (where you can get swarmed with attacks that should be blocked only for some reason don't when using the shield). As I've been dumping all the points in finding hidden stuff & healing gems I tend to avoid alchemy just things are much better now that I've put a few points in dispel as those curses can just bite. Best to simply put a few points in it then save before trying it, then effort the auto dispel as that minigame is only not fun, or get cursed & see what's inside then reload the game to open information technology up without dying from the curse(s).

Avatar image for steveurkel

Wow this is worse than I idea - I switched to greatswords and sold all myfinesse gear and I am basically naked and am getting owned by this boss in ane or 2 shots. lol people who want a challenge play with only a weapon and no armor :|

Avatar image for ares42

Been playing Might/Sorcery, and as I posted in another thread, it's only stupid. Ofc it has something to do with my crafted armor, but the philharmonic of Plate armor, destiny armor and resistance buff (once yous attain high enough level), Hardy constitution, Stoneskin and Sphere of Protection almost makes y'all invulnerable. But the carmine on superlative is the health loss = mana and mana = heals space loop. Even if you actually start taking damage, aught will hurt you chop-chop plenty to not give you plenty of fourth dimension to just heal back upwardly again. And it's not like you're doing bad harm with Battle Frenzy and Tempest at your disposal. For the terminal 20 hours or then I've played I've not used a unmarried health or mana regen particular or pot, just self-sustained with my ain heals and mana gain (and yes, I'm playing on hard).

Avatar image for supermarius

@steveurkel you dont demand to utilize the correct ratio when y'all are trying to detect a potion. Merely use ane of each reagent and it should piece of work

Avatar image for redravn

@steveurkel:

Mate you lot need to runway downwards a greater potion recipe to get-go using the extra ingedients. You might be able to unlock the recipe by using the experiement function so y'all can go information technology early. You will detect the greater recipes in shops as you get further in the game. I have been using might/sorcery with greatsword and its actually fun. Once I got bloodlust I became stupidly more powerful if y'all tin can get the get-go couple kills off to activate it. Besides, the lightning spells comboed with the might skill that gets you lot +damage to stunned enemies is very stiff.

Avatar image for nux

I'm playing equally a finesse/sorcery build, its fast moving and gives you some nice options in battle.
